If you think Spanish sounds similar to Japanese, you should hear Finnish/Estonian

Again, Chinese describes more than one language. Cantonese is what you're thinking of.

The vowels are the same. Hmm I'll have to find some videos and listen to those two languages. Speaking of awful sounding languages my Dutch friend

English sounds the most annoying, because I understand how inane and stupid the content is. That's why I always listen to music sung in languages I don't understand.

Sounds nothing alike. Except if you have absolutely no ear for music.

This is definitely a huge plus for me. Where I live, I must concentrate on what native speakers are saying. Thus, I am usually oblivious to the content of the babble going on around me in the native language. And it is a blessing. When I find myself surrounded by English-speaking tourists, I am reminded of how precious it is to have been able to escape the babble in my own language. It is like getting your ears back.

As for music, I have a great deal of music in my collect that is not in English. Some of it is in languages of which I have an inkling knowledge from former study, but most of it I do not understand. Formerly if I especially liked a song, I sometimes used to try to find a translation...an adventure that had a disappointing end too often. Now I am much more inclined to just let my enjoyment be.
