About the Netherlands: they indeed used to have "the" reputation of tolerance, but that has faded a bit since Geert Wilder's been dictating politics there. Nonetheless, the Dutch are (as one poster said above) very pragmatic, although they have a serious tendency towards bluntness and "in-your-face-ness".
the bluntness stems from the countrys calvinist tradition , scots presbyterians are like that aswell and south african afrikanners
Holland and all the Scandinavian countries!
Canada is also good!
When it comes to America there are only certain parts of the country that can be called tolerant... you know NYC, San Francisco, Miami etc
Netherlands and Scandinavia maybe tolerant regarding social issues (drugs, gays, ...), they are NOT tolerant regarding other races.
I saw lot of racism there and they have an extreme-right party.
Canada on the other side is tolerant regarding social issues AND other races/cultures.

id agree with you that the famous scandanavian and dutch reputation for tollerance is often a little hollow , the scandanavians especially are a rigid bunch in thier own way , you see little in the way of real difference in those countries and im not refering to race , any kind of ostentasiousness is frowned upon , you cant beat the usa for acceptance of all kinds of freaks and weirdos , even they kill each other over it
If you mean tolerant literally - i.e. just tolerating the presence of whatever, without appreciating it - then I guess most Western countries are at the same level as we all have constitutions and laws preventing intolerant behavior.
If you mean tolerant in the more romantic sense - i.e. appreciating diversity and things that are different - I am also inclined to check the Netherlands or even Germany box. In this respect the US doesn't even appear on my shortlist. In the US it is more like live and let live, like I don't care as long as you leave me alone. And many Americans are very radical in their views and they let everyone know about it.

Yep. In the Netherlands there are lots of visual minorities and they seem well integrated.
All things considered, the Netherlands are the best European country in my view.

Oh, please. LOL. This seems to be THE classic example on here. European clubs buy their players from all over the world. Everybody knows this. Especially from Africa. Using this as an example is absolutely misleading. I am sure you know this...

The National Team is not a club and doesn't buy players. It's formed with citizens of the country.
Probably Thailand. You's be amazed at the riffraff they tolerate, as long as they bring money.
