You mean, like India? Which is classified as a peninsula. Is India a "narrow strip of land"? The Horn of Africa?

This site lists Alaska, but also India and Horn.

How much surface freshwater is contained within Lake Baikal. This little-known lake located in the Siberia contains approximately 22 - 23% of the Earth's surface freshwater. It has more water than all the Great Lakes combined. If it could be drained, it would take 3.5 years for the Amazon River (largest river by volume) flowing continuously to fill back up.

Which Crater Lake are you talking about? The one in Oregon which is the first one to pop up on a Google Search, has half the average depth of Baikal, and 18.7 km2 of water, Baikal has 23,500 km 2.

Still i thought Lake Baikal was very well known.

Baikal is the deepest lake. Quite well known I’d say.

I would guess most educated people know of it. Now, can someone tell me where Irkutsk and Yakutsk are?

Yeah, Irkutsk and Yakutsk are cities in Siberia. Irkutsk is close to Baikal Lake and Yakutsk is kind of famous for having the coldest winters for any +100k inhab city in the world.

I had to google Crater Lake, though. I guess it’s very under the radar outside the US, as it’s not very remarkable in terms of size. I mean, who knows San Martín Lake? It’s deeper and much deeper than Crater Lake, but still not top sized in order to make it to geography books.

Baikal Lake is very well known. What might not be well known is that it has its own species of seal, the farthest population from the sea and the only one exclusive to fresh water.

The Amazon and Orinoco basin, the largest and fourth largest rivers in the world are united by a natural canal called the Casiquiare canal and together provide a quarter of the world's Fresh water discharge.
