The closest U.S. state to Africa is actually Maine(despite bordering Canada).

Not true! The South point of Russia is located on the opposite part of Russia - the Khasansky district of Primorsky territory.

This thread is almost identical to another one on the "WORLD" forum called "ODDITIES OF GEOGRAPHY" which has over

1,300 comments and is still being added to. Nearly all your comments have been repeated already on that thread. Please

everyone, type "Oddities" in the search box here to bring up that thread, and use THAT one, to save yourselves all a lot

of time repeating the same information.

Actually:

Derbent: 42°04′N

Khasansky District: 42°17'N.

I checked using Google Earth. Technically, Derbent is further south. And the southernmost settlement in Khasansky district is Zarubino, 42°38′N, and Derbent is still slightly further south.

Agadir, Morocco, on the southwest coast, is closer to Spain than it is to Tangier,Morocco, located at the far northern section of Morocco.

In fact, northern Morocco and southern Morocco are closer to Spain than the city of Marrakech is to Spain, despite Morocco not actually bordering the European mainland.

You're welcome

Another geographical fact.

In understand you're from the Kamchatka Peninsula. Kamchatka is home to the largest active volcano in the Northern Hemisphere, Klyuchevskaya.
