Many flags are pretty...many flags are well known...but few flags fly for freedom like this one. It represents a country that survived the first genocide of the 20th century and as an old Soviet Union satellite...now a proud and free democratic country...Armenia.
Next to The American Flag...my very first choice, I also love our state flag, that of North Carolina.
Excellent idea for a thread...refreshing.
Armenia is having some democracy "growing pains" right now.
I have lived under 2 flags in my lifetime and am quite partial to both of them...
I'm also a big fan of Nepal's flag, partly because I'm a climber and Nepal is home to the worlds tallest mountains, but mostly because they broke with tradition and have such a uniquely-shaped flag...
The danish flag, which is one of the oldest in the world.
We use our lfag for everything, we have small flagpolls in our gardens and we raise the flag at birthsdays, wedding and so on..

Tell me if this is true: I've heard that the origins of the Danish flag stems back a thousand years or so to a certain Danish king, who asked God for a sign as to whether or not to attack Poland. The next morning the king awoke to a red sky with white cloud formations resembling a cross in the direction of Poland. The king took this as God's affirmative answer to the question, promptly amassed his soldiers and invaded Poland. Truth or urban legend?
