attending 2goldens, charles atlas school of posting pictures. i was tired of being a 90 pound weakling and getting sand kicked in my face now i am a manly 168 pound confident poster no longer dispised by women and pushed around by nerd like mental bullies.
I decided to post this poem because of a thread I read earlier about how fascinated we all are with acient Egyptian artifacts. It made me realize that we are all fascinated with ancient cultures, period. I think it may be because we are just fascinated with the human story. In any event, I was inspired.
Preservation
At the root of human nature,
is a need to preserve all things.
It is engrained in every one of us,
from the common man, to the royalty of kings.
At the heart of the heart of man -
is a need to keep alive the past.
We have an epic quest to illuminate history,
where otherwise no light would be cast.
We do it with works of literature,
and magnificent works of art -
just to hold on to the endless possibilities
of this world which we're a part.
We record present moments for the future -
which then become the past -
the history of man has been revealed
in the antiquities he can not outlast.
Throughout the human story,
we've strived to preserve
the liberties in life
everyone of us deserve.
We are all curators
in the Mysterious Museum of our Minds,
where memories are fossilized
between feelings of all kinds.
We've built monuments,
and engraved names in stone.
We've excavated the landscape
in hopes of an ancestor's bone.
Early men drew oxen,
on the walls of caves.
Egyptian people wrapped their dead-
instead of using graves.
Why did they not want to be forgotten?
Did they carve daily life into history-
so that future human beings
wouldn't think life such a mystery?
Whatever the reason -
I'm thankful for their endeavor,
for all their preservation,
I'll remember them forever.
Boy Poconoproud! That was very good!! I've got to find time to write something soon. You're making me feel guilty for neglecting my gift. I've just gotten caught up in work and stuff. Thanks for sharing with us. This thread is my favorite place to be.
