Accommodations - Atlanta, Georgia

Accommodations

Our goal is to present a good cross section of the various types of hospitality properties available around Atlanta. Due to space limitations, we cannot list every Atlanta location for each national chain. If you prefer to lodge with a particular chain, but don’t see a hotel listed that’s convenient for you, ask the company’s central 800-number operator about other Atlanta locations. Unlike other chapters in this guide, we’re breaking this chapter into more specific geographic locations for your convenience.

For more accommodations options, be sure to see our Bed-and-Breakfasts chapter.

Accommodations - Bed-And-Breakfasts

Atlantans, best noted for their devotion to Southern hospitality, are also known for the pride they take in their homes. The combination of the two is best discovered in the area’s bed-and-breakfasts, where owners throw open their doors and treat guests like members of the family.

In historic homes, Victorian cottages, and cozy bungalows, Atlanta’s many bed-and-breakfast inns offer visitors a range of options, from homelike comfort to elegant pampering. The variety of bed-and-breakfast accommodations has grown, particularly in the years leading up to the arrival of the Olympic Games in 1996.

There are several general guidelines shared by the majority of Atlanta’s bed-and-breakfast establishments. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule. We have tried to indicate where an inn may be different, but it’s always a good idea to have the innkeeper answer any specific questions you may have about children, pets, smoking, and payment. On the whole, smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the building, but often guests may smoke outside in a designated area. There’s usually no accommodation for pets or, in some cases, children. Other innkeepers only permit children older than 12.

While old houses and cottages provide quaint guest rooms, they usually do not have wheelchair-accessible facilities. Some innkeepers do not accept credit cards on-site but will allow reservations to be charged through a central reservation service. The metro area has a free reservation service to help visitors find an inn that best suits their style. Bed & Breakfast Atlanta, (404) 875-0525 or (800) 967-3224, or www.bedandbreakfastatlanta.com, operates Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Inn rates are the same whether booked directly or through the innkeeper. Major credit cards can be used to book a room, even if the individual innkeepers do not accept them.
