Description: This is the gallery and studio of Dana Cassara, who began practicing the art of silversmithing at North Seattle Community College in 1992. The center is a jewelry and small-scale metalworking studio located in the University District of Seattle, offering classes for individuals in the art of decorative metalworking and jewelry design. The studio is a comfortable, well-lit, and cheerful work space fully equipped for small-scale classes (limited to 10 participants). There is also a small storefront gallery featuring local artists, both professional and amateur, as well as a limited selection of tools.

This is a fire dance collective that combines choreographed belly dance, breakdance, and stilt walking with a wide range of professional fire performance techniques and innovative tools. The result is an incredible, exciting performance unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Pyrosutra performs weekly at the Chapel Bar, located at 1600 Melrose Ave. in Capitol Hill. Description: Gallery director Cora Edmonds’s international background, combined with her love of art, travel, and photography, influenced her to establish ArtXchange in 1995 as a way to raise cultural awareness and promote global understanding through art. ArtXchange participates in First Thursdays at Pioneer Square and also hosts unique events such as art auctions, book signings, and tea tastings. Edmonds has a very interesting story; it was a chance encounter with a little boy in a remote village in Nepal that led her to open ArtXchange, wanting to really cross cultures through art.

Description: In visiting this gallery today, you would hardly know the modest beginnings Kucera started this gallery with, given that he’s a high roller in the Seattle art world now. Opening in a dilapidated storefront in 1983, the new gallery received a three-line paragraph at the end of a Seattle Times arts column as its only press. It was when Kucera began working with Roger Shimomura, an established and widely acclaimed artist, that the gallery began making a name for itself. Since that time the Greg Kucera Gallery has shown exhibitions rotating between emerging artists and internationally known artists of all genres, including filmmaker John Waters.
