My thing is this. Whether pro or anti gentrification, its highly difficult to dispute that gentrification is an extreme form of urban renewal. Its not just mere revitilization, but its revitilization driven by the

What am I missing?
For thoroughness, it's actually a fairly involved calculation. Not rocket science, just lots of "stuff" to consider....

ON: The Suspension of Rights in the Workplace

Posted 06-26-2014 at 03:23 PM by Blondebaerde

The workplace is a dictatorship, not a democracy much less constitutional republic. Great documentary on Netflix about that, at this writing: I don't have the title handy. Due process, manners, etc. are tossed out the window by-fiat. There are marginal checks-and-balances, sometimes none: a dictator (manager) can make lives either lavish or a living hell, for any or no reason.

Posted 06-24-2014 at 10:52 AM by Blondebaerde
Updated 06-24-2014 at 11:17 AM by Blondebaerde

Late Spring 2014, a US-based tech giant (Google) decided to publish details around their employment numbers. Including, apparently, breakdown by race and (perhaps) gender. Via a "Diversity Report," the very name of which leads me to suspect an agenda. From which little positive will emerge.

I applaud their willingness to bring this data out into the open, though not surprisingly it instantly caused controversy in the mass media. I am not entirely clear, from a market...
