Exposed Part 9

Posted 07-16-2008 at 04:03 PM by Pam& Bill

One afternoon Bill and I stopped at a diner for an early dinner before going back to the chaotic house we living in.

We ordered, our food was delivered and Bill suddenly says I don't feel so great. I looked at him and he was grey and sweating. I suggested he go sit in the truck for a few minutes. He got up and went out to the truck and I ate some of my order and asked for a box to take the rest home. When I got out to the truck Bill announced he thought he should go to the ER. So off we go, to the ER.

I hate to admit this but ER trips were becoming common. After about 2 hours, they tell me they are admitting him, just waiting for a bed to open up. Seems he had a heart attack at the restaurant. So I get a ride home from the ER, leave him happy on his Morphine.

I get back to Maple Ave. and everyone is all upset over Bill and the ex is somewhat worried that we won't be leaving on the 5th as we had planned. Over the next few days, I packed up our stuff as the ex and girl friend unpacked their stuff. Bill kept assuring me we would still be able to go to Tn. when he got released.Meanwhile, the ex had borrowed the money to pay me off from his parents and I was served with seperation papers and I signed a quit claim deed on the house on Maple Ave.

Bill likes to drive at night, so we were planning on leaving around midnight of the 5th. He was discharged from the hospital around 4 on the 5th, he pulled up in front of the house and we started loading all of our stuff on the back of the pick up truck. We had sold most of my furniture and some family pieces and what we couldn't fit were stored in the barn. We had that truck loaded and put a tarp on it, loaded up Petey the Pomeranian and Stockings the cat and we were off.

Before we left, my daughter was upset and crying her eyes out. It was tough to get in the truck and leave. But before I left, I sincerely forgave the ex and his gf. I told them both that too, that I wished them well and lots of happiness. Letting go of that anger and bitterness was like a 1000 pound weight was lifted off of me. It was freeing. It was also a fact that she now was stuck with someone who could easily disappoint and not be there when you needed them. It is true when they say if another woman steals your husband, let her have him.

I was starting a new life with a wonderful man, someone who wouldn't bail at the first sign of trouble, in a new state, moving to a city. The city part is the most amazing thing,I was a country girl having lived on farms most of my life. I was really unsure of the city part but still excited about an adventure with Bill. We both believed in living life to the fullest each and every day.

So into the night we drove, Petey the Pomeranian finally quit barking and settled down to sleep. Stockings the cat settled down too. We pulled off in Va just before 7 a.m. for breakfast because I had to call my daughter as promised. The cat and dog needed to be walked and my legs needed to be stretched. Bill needed to get some more coffee in him. I just wanted to brush my teeth, it felt like a 1000 midgets had been marching threw my mouth with muddy boots. We continued on to Knoxville and arrived at our apartment complex about 11:30 looking like the Clampetts had arrived. We filled out the paperwork, and were told the apartment wouldn't be ready for 2 more days. So we headed over to Pigeon Forge and rented a cabin for 2 days. We went to dinner at Olive Garden and Bill says I don't feel so good. So off we go to the ER at the hospital in Sevierville.
The Dr. in the ER is stunned when he hears Bill was just released from the hospital in NY and then drove to Tn. So they did what they could for him and back to the cabin we went. Staying in that cabin in Pigeon Forge was so cool, it became our dream place. It was built on the side of a steep hill and only a few neighbors around. It had a wooden swing on the back deck and it was a great room inside with a master bedroom. It was the perfect size for us and we started day dreaming over having something like this cabin to call ours. We wanted our very own Waldon.

The 2 days went by quick and it was time to head over to Knoxville to our apartment. We got the truck unloaded and started settling into our place. It was starting to sink in that we had made it to Tn. to live finally.

Josh, it is the link that created our life here in Tennessee. Remember we currently live in East Tennessee together.

I love this line: "I just wanted to brush my teeth, it felt like a 1000 midgets had been marching through my mouth with muddy boots."

Cant' wait for the next addition.
