Phoenix Rain and Smart Growth Gravelscaping.

It just rained 2" in Phoenix, and now the desert soils are covered with bright green grass.

As a gardener, I've always laughed at "smart growth gravelscaping," (xeriscaping), involving spreading gravel over thousands of square feet in your yard.

I guess they think that grass takes too much water, and gravel doesn't take any.

Well, if I had kids, I'd rather have them throw the football and tackle on drought stricken brown grass, not gravel or...

This method of pricing for contactors allows for the assurance that the contractor will make achieve a substantial profit margin.
Most contractors that use this structure are afforded the ability to advertise heavily and gain at least a one time consumer. The selling principle for this scheme is that a consumer is put at ease to know what the costs will be "up front".

Weakness Overseas Leads to Lower Mortgage Rates, Fed Meeting Begins

There isn’t too much to report from yesterday. After a weak open, the prices of mortgage backed securities trudged along sideways closing where they began the day. There were no reports of lenders repricing but we did see higher mortgage rates when compared to last week. Overnight, weakness in Asia and Europe has led to a flight to quality where investors sell riskier assets(stocks) in favor of the relative safety of treasuries and MBS.

Today is day one of the Federal Open Market...
