That can be and will have to be addressed. Although the bots will be smarter than anybody in government so maybe not.

You seem to be uncomfortable with the idea people will have to be subsidized right to the very last man. One day there will have to be an agreement every last person gets food, shelter and medical care. Evenif it pains people that somebody got s9mething and didn't have to work for it. The old model is dead at that point.

That wouldn't be anything new. It has been that way since forever. The only difference is food security and lodging would have to be offered. Otherwise it's the let everybody starve because they aren't necessary train.

I'm "uncomfortable" thinking of the majority of our society living in a welfare state.

Every industrial revolution has increased the standard of living, for some. The displaced, not so much. For an example, look at Detroit. In the 50's, it's residents had the highest per capita income of the country. The work was offshored, many of its residents did not, or could not retrain, went on welfare, and generations later, look at it now. And that was just one industry.
If AI truly can become that powerful, and can take over entire industries, displacing millions, our country, our world could end up ten thousandfold worse than Detroit, with the exception of the small minority of people that there standard of living increased.
I see so many people on this site complaining about income inequality now, and the wealthy, just imagine it then.

But now the world is overpopulated and it's the consumer class in first world countries that have to go.
Third world countries already live a subsistence lifestyle.
