What is it none of us are informed about? You started off talking about the amount of radiation being disgorged from Tokyo Electric Power's Nuclear Plants in Fukushima and listed every article that scared the Chicken Little inside you that you were able to find. From your reference sources it is apparent that every other Chicken Little is busy writing about the event with the intent of scaring some other Chicken Little (AKA Hawksnest). I pointed out before that your sources were exaggerating the cumulative effects of the situation and then you come along and pick the base facts and begin to make pronouncements that everyone reading your missive is going to be harmed in some manner because you're scared of the unknown. You have shown to this observer who has worked with nuclear power and does know something about radiation that you are indeed a certified Chicken Little. Just in case you don't know why I keep putting you in the context of Chicken Little look up why he thought the sky was falling. There are many types of radiation ranging from harmless to beneficial such as sunlight and infrared which is the heat you need to keep from freezing to multitudes of others such as ultraviolet, x-ray, and gamma which in excess can cause you harm. You're even radiating heat which is radiation so should we fear being in the same World with a radiating object like you? The various colors in a rainbow are also derived from radiation so are we to understand your next pronouncement will be the danger from rainbows? If you multiply the number I proposed for the number of gallons of fluid in the first six inches of water that compromises the surface of the Pacific Ocean by the depth of that Ocean I can assure you that number of gallons might just dilute the total mount of radiation available in those damaged reactors to lower than a whole number. At the decay rate of some radiation that figure would be so much lower than the background radiation we evolved in that it has no significance. You should worry far more about some dum dum with an AK putting a dozen rounds in you in a second which would possibly be far more lethal and somewhat more probable.

I'm more worried about what would happen should the containment vessels in reactors 3 and 4 breach, which could also cause the remaining reactors cores of 1,2,5,6 to go as well. That would be able to put enough radioactive material into the ocean to potentially cause some issues. But I leave that scenario up to you to tell me, Richelles. I just don't know as I am not a Nuclear Scientist.
All this can't be good for the area immediately around the site, regardless.
I do agree you have a better chance of meeting your end a different way than from the radiation released in Japan getting to you in Alaska. However, if you are that worried about it, either move from AK to somewhere else or don't eat anything that is in the food chain of the ocean. (i.e. Fish and shellfish from the Pacific Ocean or anything that eats it - as an example - Bears)

The heart-breaking news from Fukushima just keeps getting worse…a LOT worse…it is, quite simply, an out-of-control flow of death and destruction. TEPCO is finally admitting that radiation has been leaking to the Pacific Ocean all along. and it’s NOT over….

It now appears that anywhere from 300 to possibly over 450 tons of contaminated water that contains radioactive iodone, cesium, and strontium-89 and 90, is flooding into the Pacific Ocean from the Fukushima Daichi site everyday.
