My wife and I will be in the Saratoga area in mid-August for a short vacation. We would like to go to the track on one of those days. I know it's dark on Tuesdays. My question is do I need advance ticket reservations for grandstand seats? Or, can I just walk up the day of the race and purchase them? The day we were planning on is not having a high-profile race.

We will enjoy both. Been to Saratoga Springs lots of times. Always seemed to miss racing season though. Except for this time. Thanks.

tbh as a track lover and horse racing fan I have never even considered grandstand seats. I think you have a better experience picnicking on the lawn. The grandstand is more for society types IMO.

I don't think the grandstand is for "society types" at all! Just regular people. The club house, box seats, and luxury suites are where the more affluent people hang out.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn downtown. We figured we would "hoof it" to the track. Looks like about a mile.

Probably closer to 1.5 miles when push comes to shove, but it's a nice walk.
