Didn't read the entire thread but believe it or not Walmart has a brand called Oak Leaf for $2.99 and
it's actually good. We like the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
While I'm not a big fan of some of their wines, it of of note that a Platinum winner at the San Diego Wine Competition, with 94 points, is the $7 non-vintage Barefoot riesling.
I'm hooked on Mark West Pinot Noir right now. Sometimes it is more than I want to pay, but right now I can get it at Sam's for $7.98.
I just noticed Menage a trois has a Pinot Noir, and it's good, too.
I hardly ever pay over $10.
Menage a Trois Red Blend
14 Hands Cabernet or Merlot (their blend is pretty decent) all about $8.
Two Buck Chuck (now Three Buck Chuck) was my gateway drug (most under 4 dollar wines (including Charles Shaw) are all made by the same vinter- Bronco Wine Company/Franzia. I've moved on. You can usually tell these brands since they all have the same cork seal)
Best dirt cheap wine by far is Griffon Primitivo (just don't drink it after you've had quality wine)
Have no qualms about drinking two-buck Chuck, either.
Same here! Except that its two-and-a-half-buck Chuck now.
