I don't drink wine or beer everyday because it makes me sleepy (i can't stop at one or even 2 glasses lol)

but that just allows me to splurge on weekends when I do drink. I don't know if any of you follow Gary V. on Winelibrary.TV but his recent interview with the renowned importer/merchant Kermit Lynch convinced me to try his '07 les Pallieres Gigondas from France. Great stuff!

Also i brought a terrific sparkling rose wine to a party last weekend. It's called Fresita and it's infused with Chilean strawberries. Think of it as a wine-cooler for grownups! Definitely on the sweeter side but it's perfect for mother's day or gf's bdays

Any Australian or South African Shiraz. And, my new favorite sweet wine is Fantasia from Castello di Amorosa in Napa Valley. If you like sweet wine, this is by far the best there is. They don't sell to stores, so I stock up when we go there. It's a good thing we go twice a year! Of course, I could order online, but what fun would that be!

hmm
Shiraz. Australia's gift to the world

There is a Pinot Noir from Paringa Estate in Victoria that I enjoyed many a time last year...

In terms of white wines, Villa Maria from Marlborough has had a fair run.

Most of the NZ Sauv Blanc's are quite good ....

I'd like to try some Californian wines, but am having a hard time finding them in Aus..

I've started drinking housewife wine. Vendage white zin, $8 for 1.5L. Great with sprite for wine spritzers! I've turned on all my snobby food friends to it.

As far as real wine is concerned, Banfi Classico Riserva Chianti or a good sangiovese.

I go to Trader Joe's and just randomly buy any dry wine that's $5 or less (sometimes I'll splurge and go up to $6). Honestly, a lot of them are pretty good, though I don't remember the "brands" for most of them. TJ's has a Chilean Reserva brand that I like (especially the Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon), as well as "Coastal" (I've had Fume Blanc and Chardonnay, both good). Considering they're among the cheapest in the store, it's a good buy. My roommate and I will easily polish off a bottle on Tuesday nights while watching "Lost".

I also love Cape May wines. They have one of few Cabernet Francs that I actually like, and a good dry Reisling.

Smoking Loon is decent - I don't mind a two-buck Chuck every now and then either. I guess I just prefer red CA wines in general to be perfectly honest.

Smile sweet, sweet wine

can anyone recommend a red wine that is very sweet? i've been trying to find a red wine because of the resveritol that is reported to be good for you, but, most seem very dry or bitter to me. any suggestions? i really like anything by arbor mist but i've been told that it isn't really wine. or as someone phrased it "it's the soda pop of wine".
