I wouldn't be surprised, Medellin has an actual subway line running through the middle of the city while Lima has no such thing. There is actually a train but it serves the less-densely populated eastern side of the city for some reason which makes little sense. The central highway in Lima has a developed bus system which is similar to a train, I heard that Bogota has something like that as well. If there is one thing lacking about Peru, it's the quality of the cities. In comparison to Chile or Argentina the Peruvian cities are quite ugly outside the historic centers. Argentina has by far the nicest looking cities in South America, while Chile has the best public transportation in South America. Peru should aim to be like those countries
Not just a metro but trams, BRT, cable car and electric escalators transportation with much more to come. Medellin is a shining example of public transportation especially for secondary cities. Cali will be the next city to bring in a tram system in its "corredor verde" project.
Lima however, is finally well underway to bettering it's transport infrastructure but it will still be a couple of years before Lima's subway is operational.

How does Medellin compare to Bogota when it comes to Transportation?
Best to discuss this on another occasion as there's been enough 'off-topic' already but safe to say Medellin's public transport infrastructure is more consolidated than Bogota's. However, all of Colombia's 8 main cities have a progressive mass transit system.
The problem is at the moment Lima only has 34.6km of rail transport and 1 BRT line + 21 bus feeder routes which altogether only handle a daily ridership of 970,000.
In a city of 10 million and as extensive as Lima it means a lot of people use underdeveloped forms of transport to travel/get to work, not to mention organised mass transit doesn't even serve the main parts of the city advertised like Miraflores, San Isidro, etc. However, that video is of the peak xmas period.
Conversely Medellin, a more compact city of 3.7million has the same distance of rail and 2 BRT lines which handle a daily ridership of 800,000. Bogota has 12 BRT lines + 947 bus feeder routes that handle a daily ridership of 2.2 million. Cali also has a daily ridership of 500,000 in its BRT system with a population of 2.4 million people.
The kissing/hugging thing is an adjustment....if you meet 25 people at a dinner, you have to kiss all the girls when you first arrive and then when you leave. The crime/danger is exaggerated, I agree.
Peru is a special place in the world and quite civilized place.
Just don't kiss the girl on both cheeks unless you really want to because the boyfriend/husband will get mad.
Holy ****, there are so many Venezuelans in Lima now. They are selling arepas everywhere, like on every street corner. All of the came here in only the past two years or so as well
