Reviving an old thread... I want to give a shout out to Michelina's on Shea next to the 51. Truly handcrafted cuisine.

The Parlor on Camelback just east of the 51 is seriously good pizza.

ANZIO's, a nice popular mom & pop Italian eatery on 28th Dr near Cactus and I-17. Across the street from the Armadillo Antique facility. We've been eating there for over 20 years. Try it, you'll like it. Not fancy smancy but very popular with the regulars.

Anyone familiar with Riazzi's? I don't know where it's located now, but recently heard the same family owns it. We used to eat there when I was a kid decades ago. It was out by the Tovrea Castle I think.

I know it is a chain restaurant, but Buca di Beppo has my favorite chicken parmesan.

North has fantastic homemade pastas. I know the one at Kierland makes the pasta in-house, not sure about the Arcadia location.

Also, Pizza A Metro is supposed to have amazing homemade gnocchi, ravioli, and lasagna. I haven't had a chance to get there yet but I will soon!

Since this is mostly about Pizza, I will add that Romanelli's Deli around 35th and Dunlap is most impressive. They sell frozen pizza dough to go for about a Buck. I moved to Phoenix from the SF area in 1995, and I had been truly spoiled by great Italian food that new yorkers were telling me was better than theirs. I was referred to Tomasso's on Camelback and was somewhat disappointed.

I'll second Riazzi's in Tempe. On Mill Ave between Southern and Broadway I think.
