Thanks for the information. I've had the realtor check with the lady I'm buying from. She said she went to Seligman.

Well Zonie we made it. There's a lot of work, but nothing we can't do. The people who live here have been helpful. With their advice and experience we can make this happen.

I enjoy hearing all the comments about life in Ash Fork, I bought 40 acres in Juniper Woods about 2 years ago, I am well aware of all the work it takes to live in this area, and I can't wait to move, I live in Benicia, CA near San Francisco. Looking forward to the open space, and slowing down life's pace. I love that cows can roam on our property and look forward to the water trips down town. Yes there are dirt roads that turn into mud in the winter, but what a great trade off form the crazy traffic and people in CA. Life looks great in Ash Fork compared to other places we have looked to retire.
See you all soon!!!
Scott from CA

Hello everyone. This seems to be a good forum. I have been reading some of the posts dated since 2008. There seems to be some debate on whether the Ash Fork area is a good place to live or not. Is there really that much burglary and theft in the area? Of course I will be armed but it is still a pain to have to worry about your home being burglarized while away.
My plan is to buy one of these 40 acre plots in the area and then commute to Flagstaff for work. How much does it cost to install septic? Water hauling is fine. I would like solar for power. I have been looking at land on Jake's Old West Properties and there seems to be some fantastic deals. 40 acres for $20,000. What's the catch? Seriously.
Basically everything seems great except what some people have said about the high incidence of crime. I used to live in rural Montana and nobody even used to lock their house there. So is it really as bad as some are making it sound? Thanks for any information friends.

Hi everyone,
We are getting so close with our move to Ash Fork, does anyone know of a good steel building company for a garage/barn in the area. We are selecting the spot where we want to build next week, but must start with a garage first, and then build our home.

Here's the deal from a resident:

1. Water is hauled and will always be hauled. Be prepared to live with a storage tank.

2. There will never be a population boom. There is nothing in Ash Fork that can support this.

3. There will never be a theme park in Williams. We don't have water, nor do they. We haul our water from a well here in town. They get theirs from a well and also from a train that brings it in from Kansas. You heard me, they haul their water from a big distance.

4. The realators in this area are very dishonest and will lead you to believe many things. None of which are ture. Example: The property doesn't flood -- even though it does. The property is easy to get to -- but has no road to it. The road is easily navigable, despite it transversing two major washes and being 17-miles of dirt.

Perhaps this company is located in AZ. They are in many parts of our USA.

www.americansteelinc.com Many folks around here have bought buildings from them. I bought a truckport & a boatport. I have been happy with the work they did, & materials used. ...Mine is 12'wide x 21' long x 8' tall... They will build the structure just about anyway you want it.
