It is the same thing that happened here early on. The federal government didn't set up the production of test kits to obscure the spread of the virus. Business interests in both Wuhan and the Trump organization wanted to just delay. So, the Chinese central government came in and locked down Wuhan, while the city and state governments imposed stay-at-home orders here on a case-by-case basis. It is what is happening now as local business interests in the US lobby against the re-imposition of restrictions.

Since day one China has deliberately lied, suppressed crucial information and destroyed evidence related to the coronavirus outbreak. The country has censored academic research in an attempt to control the narrative and has also silenced doctors and whistleblowers.

The article is not surprising, but it's damning in that it has evidence - leaked documents from China itself. It confirms what we knew all along. When you report half the number of deaths, and half the number of cases to the public when you clearly know otherwise, it's incomprehensable. The world needed all the information that is available.

And here, China is still a year later trying to deflect blame - saying the virus originated in India, Europe, the US. It's nonsense. They are even paying people to publish this nonsense in social media and to "control the narrative".
yeah you got that right, they paid italy, paid spain, paid UCLA, paid CDC, and even paid our great president to destroy america from within, mission accomplished!

There are two ways it could've spread.

1. SARS-COVID-19 spread from China.

2. SARS spread from China and eventually mutated into SARS-COVID-19 almost 20 years later. There's no way to know where it first mutated into its present form and started to spread. It's mostly likely occurred in the most populated places in China or Europe since SARS didn't get much of a foothold in the US.

In either case, the number of infections grew gradually over months until the number reached critical mass and an outbreak included many severe cases.

I wonder how other countries would handle this. For example the US...

We are now well known for lack of transparency, general chaos, lack of preparedness, poor management of the outbreak, slow response, incompetence, misinformation and fake news...

I think by now, we all know the obvious answer in our heart, we just don't want to admit it.

I think the biggest difference is not locking down or whatever, it's one simple matter:

forceful quarantine of the infected.

what americans fail understand, is that once you are carrying the virus, you are endangering your family, your friends, your neighbors, your community, and the entire public.

no, it's not wear a mask, it's not wash your hand, it's to put the infected in quarantine hospital wards until they test negative. But no, we want freedom, freedom to bring the virus back to our family, our friends, our neighbors, our community.

And together, we have already killed thousands of americans. Who really killed all these americans? china? no, the president? no. it was us americans that chose to bring the virus back to our homes and communities.

Who even cares where the virus actually came from lol. As long as it is widely believed that China unleashed it to the world it’s all good. A few desperate PRC apologists trying to blame it on Italy changes nothing. They are not convincing anyone anyway. At least not anyone with a functioning brain.

That's a good question. You have to give some allowances as it was totally new, no one knew what it was. China yes was getting through the learning curve, the had a parallel flu epedemic, and now they had something new. They were trying to figure it out, all these roadblocks could occur in any country. The CNN article mentions that it was taking 23 days on average in January to diagnose a patient. OK I can almost forgive that. CNN also mentions underfunding and understaffing, poor morale, and a bearucratic system that hampered the early days. I can almost forgive that, it can happen in a western nation as well but it's more likely to happen in a centralized authoritative system with less checks and balances.

But they took it a step further - they lied about hard data. This isn't along the lines of "oh don't panic, it's under control". This isn't spin, this isn't chaos or poor management. They deliberately and consciously lied about scientific data. They lied about the number of deaths, they lied about the number of patients. That I cannot forgive. This is from there own documents that have been leaked. If this information was shared with the west in the early stages, scientists would have a better understanding of the virus.

There is a thread in the "Paranormal" section of this forum on the origins of Covid. Up to like 1,000 pages. It's a treasure trove of stupidity - just about every conspiracy theory you can think of - everything from Bill Gates started it, to China superweapon (even I won't go there), to it's caused by cell phones, and of course that covid is just a myth in the first place.

This thread is not about the origins of the virus. But on China lying. Still you get people in here that wants to divert the topic. Yes, we have one poster in particularly that is doing his or her best to change the topic and indeed not convincing anyone, but he or she should join the Paranormal forum, join the stupidity, and post away:

us American's? You're a Chinese national maomao and once you insisted the virus didn't start in China, you lost all credibility on this thread.
