Tertullian lived around 200 AD, and said Christians could have pagan friends, but they should never celebrate with them, or use pagan traditions, as that is how Satan corrupted Christianity. So no Yule log, no Christmas tree, no green plants on the door or windows, no Saturnalia, no gifts.
Your pagan friend is celebrating the birth of their child? You can not go. Your pagan friends are getting married? That is not allowed. One of your pagan friends has died? You can not say goodbye with his family.
Sports? Have you forgotten the votive offering at the door? Politics? Theater? Not allowed for the same reason.
So every time a Christian says Merry Christmas, remember to tell them how they have been corrupted by Satan.

I learned to love the Grinch when i found out that he was a Really "Put the Christ back in Christmas" Christian.
Feel the Love It's not all of them (he said carefully) but this is the Christian who feels he doesn't have to Moderate his language and can say what they all want to say, which is projecting their fears onto him and believe that they will be happy in heaven watching atheists being tortured.

We should start a "wall of love" thread and post some snippets said to us here. Of course, as soon as we do that we're the aholes.
What does that mean? Did he cause the residents of Whoville to rediscover the true Christmas spirit?
What did you think of the whacky Whoville carols? (Welcome Christmas, Fah who ramus!)
I know nothing of Whoville, sorry and the only "Carois" I enjoy are ones set by renaissance or medieval composers.
I at first saw the Grinch as an overt attack on atheism and its' supposed war on Christmas. But I began to see that atheist in fact don't mind Christmas at all. It's all lights and decorations (many of them pagan ) and fod and drink and loot for the kiddies and the topless models in Santa hats.
The "War on Christmas" is the one about Government expressions of support for a particular religion - it is not about abolishing Christmas.
But what I became aware of was Some Christians fuming about missing the real meaning of Christmas. Get rid of the commercialism, the indulgence and the paganism especially.
Get rid of Christmas. replace it with religion.
The Grinch is a Christian.
P.s. I am now booked on BA to KL 20th Dec. I'm off to see the Elephant - or the Ta Phrom Stegosaur at least. I'll try to keep in touch.
