but , note...there already had to be a Hell for Lucifer to be thrown into. It was there before Man was beyond the design -stage. That also implies that man was intended to die. If Adam had scoffed from the tree of eternal life, and never died - hell would be empty, and Lucifer policing furnaces with no customers.
Slice it where you like, the eden scenario is a total and intentional stichup planned from before God started wadding the BBevent together.

LOL... Very good review/critique of Tantalust's drawing Transponder...
Sister Wendy Beckett just recently passed, so it may be time for an Atheist to fill her shoes if you feel up to the task for a different perspective. I would ask what the stars/sun rays streaming though the clouds/how Lucifer's wings went from white feathers to bat wings, and what that symbolizes. An example of Sister Wendy for future critiques below...

Enjoying your scholarly, hellish clarifications/reviews/critiques as usual, even if I don't understand some of it.

That was a good review of the portrait..yes, it is not a 'marriage made in heaven', but Sister Wendy might not have realised that it didn't matter in those days.
And yes, apart from the theology, the propaganda aspect of Dore's (is it Dore?) painting is worth looking at. Aside from the ludicrous idea that Lucifer would think a rebellion would work (God just has to snap his fingers and it's gone) and could persuade any angels to join him, that God would find it aesthetically neccessary to make the disgraced angel comform to human conventions of vile appearance like Tolkien trnsformed fallen elves into Orcs, shambling oafish fanged and ...black....yes, always black. It makes me Very uncomfortable, that. And yet this is a Human convention. There's no reason to suppose that God would transform Lucifer at all. It's pretty petty. "ok pretty boy...since you went over to the dark side, lets dump you in the lava and make you ugly..."
No, Job, knows, Lucifer is God's gofor and as angels can visit you unawares, Lucifer might have turned up on a Job for God, and you'd think it was an angel...

I liked the magic appearing act at the start, and what a cheeky nun. Was she always like that?

Indeed, I had to check why Adam would scoff from the tree, only to find scoff also means to eat (and then I had to look up voracious).
