Really this is sad state of affairs coming from a Cristian as if Atheists all are:
People with no morals
pornographers
pedophiles
sodomites
rapists
wife beaters (or husband)
child molesters
etc.
etc.
Thankfully not all Christians think this way
I for one even as a Christian would be offended by the practice of solicitation of this manner and yes it is no better than prostitution another name for solicitation.
There is instruction not to go from house to house. (I am sure I will be accused of taking this out of context)
They would do better serving at soup kitchens and helping the helpless.
First of all, please don't put words in my mouth. It was a simple question that you did not answer. As for the rest, it is just your opinion.
I have to wonder, if you found porn instead of a bible tract would you have been as upset? Honestly?
Both are equal invasions. Assuming were talking about legal porn, then both things are legal items that are placed specifically for unsuspecting folks to see. The intentions of the invasion don't matter to me. My Socratic sensibilities may make me feel embarrassed to pull a piece of porn out of a pair of pants at Target, but I wouldn't feel like it was a bigger "crime" than finding Christian propaganda placed there.
Ok, say I call you a string of dirty names (not that I have the inclination to do so), there is no real law against that right? But it isn't very respectful is it?
I may have the freedom to do so, land of the free right?
Just because it doesn't break a law doesn't mean I have rational reason to do so.
Just because these people aren't breaking the law doesn't mean they have the right to disrespect the property of others.

Just about as bad in my opinion. however the two aren't the same per se. Porn is, well porn. Religion is trying to change someone into conformity of a more common mind set. Porn really only serves one purpose, one very basic primal purpose...
But this can work two ways; say it was a card for a kiddie porn site, would it still be something that should be overlooked?

You missed my point. In a free society with feedom of speech it means that some times we just have to put up with stuff that we don't like. For instance, I don't like the coors twins up on bill boards where children can see them, but I have to take the good with the bad. That's life.

So - I'll ask you your own question then:
You have to take the Bible tracts hidden in Target pants (the good) with pornography hidden in Target pants (the bad)?

Hmm.. so a store has to put up with people tampering with their merchandise?
don't like the coors twins. buy the land preceding the billboard and put another bigger billboard.
I got some clothes from the local Target store the other day and found some card with a christian website on it. It had a little picture of jesus touching some kid on the head....
Sounds like the field manual for the certain elements of the Catholic clergy.
I personally like to to take out my pen a draw moustaches or other funny stuff on the characters, write in my own in my own words as to what they are saying and leave the tracts where I found them. I know it has brightened a few folks day.

So? As I said: that's life.
