The toll was going to come down at some point because GDOT plans on adding HOT lanes to 400 similar to the ones planned for I-75.

GA 400 Express Lanes

I highly doubt this will sway anyone opposed to the TSPLOST... these people won't change their minds for nothing.

This never would have happened if they weren't so desperate to see TSPLOST pass. I still hope it fails.

Agree. As I mentioned in another thread, this smacks of pandering and desperation. Kasim Reed's remarks also seem a bit last ditch.

Some of my faith in government has been restored. But not until it's done.

Well, doing the correct thing is always better than doing the wrong thing, but the perceived motives in this instance just seem to reinforce the negative perceptions and remind voters the reasons they distrust government. To me, the downsides of doing this now are far greater than the upsides.

Why couldn't they have waited two weeks to announce the tolls are coming down and avoid any suspicion of pandering or trying to "bribe" the electorate to pass the TSPLOST? What was the urgency for making this announcement today?

To ensure that the government will keep its promises because apparently that is a major issue most opponents have with TSPLOST... it is an attempt to restore trust with the public.

the reason was because a petition with several thousand signatories was delivered to deal yesterday.
