I apologize as I did not read the article - is Georgia's no-pass rate a result of failing the graduation exams or the result of drop outs? If the later, then I doubt the relative difficulty of the graduation exams is a meaningful factor in the low grad rate.

Lol, let's not make excuses for Georgia....

The highschool graduation test was extremely easy...just knowing the basics and you would pass the exam...it's literally algebra 1 math. If they struggle with this exam, how do they expect to do well in college??

It just shows Georgia schools systems fail for the most part, except a few system like those in the north metro.

What hurts Georgia’s ranking is its acute failure to graduate students with disabilities and students with limited English. Only three out of 10 students in those two categories graduates, putting us well behind most of the nation.
Well now gee, can't speak for the other fifty-eleven counties in Georgia, but in Dekalb they serve the ESOL population by firing the bloody interpreters.

I took half of it in 2002 in 10th grade and the other half in 2003 in 11th grade. Pass both the first time and this was right after the state changed it to a 11th grade level vs the 8th grade level it was before. This was in the Mobile area. So I know.

It was not hard. People were even saying the old 8th grade level high school exit exams was hard and I couldn't believe it.

Have you taken the one in Alabama? It's much easier.
