Oh wow nice add indeed. American is also expanding and heard the City of Atlanta was building more gates on T. I guess United also see a need for a second flight because of Asia traffic.

Yes, I've read that T is expanding to consolidate US/AA traffic there. This will hopefully unclog the miserable D concourse a bit and give a little more slack for other airlines over there. It'll also mean the 100% O/D traffic on the two non-Delta legacy carriers will have a super easy walk from gate to curb--should be a pretty nice arrival experience.

Another tidbit:

Hartsfield-Jackson to build another gate for A380 super-jumbo jet | AJC@ATL

Looks like they're modifying the F-Gates to accommodate the A380.

Thanks God that walk is horrendous from E.

Delta Air Lines Plans Halt to Atlanta-Dubai Service

DeltaAir Lines says it will cancel its Atlanta-Dubai flight due to the difficulty of competing with the subsidized Gulf carriers.

The flight, operated with a Boeing 777, will end Feb. 11, 2016. After that, Delta’s only non-stop flight to the Middle East will be a New York Kennedy-Tel Aviv flight, and the only U.S. carrier flight to Dubai will be United’s Washington Dulles-Dubai flight.

Emirates poised to bid for Atlanta route | The National

Quote:
DUBAI // Emirates Airline is considering a service between Dubai and Atlanta, Georgia, in place of Delta Airlines, which last week signalled its intention to withdraw from the route next year.

The airline said: “Our route planners are now closely studying the opportunity for Emirates to fill in the gap when Delta exits the non-stop Atlanta to Dubai service.

...

But according to studies conducted by Emirates economists, the Atlanta to Dubai route was a cash generator for Delta, the world’s most profitable airline.

“Our studies indicate that the route was a highly profitable one, with an estimated route profitability of over US$10 million (Dh36.73m) a year, or a route net margin of 7 per cent.
Seeing a slew of 777s/787s from Emirates, Turkish, and Qatar outside the F terminal would be a nice sight indeed!

That's good, even if it was competitive, seems it was profitable for Delta, a little odd they'd dump it.

I am not sure I would believe Emirates that it was profitable for Delta. Emirates doesn't really need to make a profit on their routes.

That's fair, good to have that region still open, cause Dubai is a large airport for that part of the world to get around, so good it'll be open.

Delta's making a number of changes:

- Reduced service to Rome and Venice (seasonal).
- 3x daily to Guatemala City (prev 2)
- 1x weekly to Santiago, DR
- 777 to Lima
- 6x daily to Mexico City (prev 5)

More and more Latin America heavy, less and less Europe-heavy. 3 flights to Guatemala per day is pretty insane if that actually holds. Santiago would be nice to have as a daily route--the latest Delta Saturday-only test service (also doing Medellin and Cartegena). Maybe Guayaquil will come back someday?
