My point though was that the developments he builds are definitely a better fit for the car-centric attitudes among Cobb county's leadership compared to the massive resistance he encounters when he builds his crap in-town.

I thought people generally liked projects such as Edgewood Retail District. Why is this guy so hated?

Holy Cow! As much as I love Atlanta, why must we fool ourselves with the notion that the CoA is all that walkable itself. Although less car-centric than the burbs, especially the far-out burbs, a car is definitely needed throughout the entire metro, ITP as well as OTP. Oy vai

I've never met anyone who enjoys going to Edgewood Retail District. The design is terrible. People go there because they want/need dog food, toilet paper, groceries, home improvement supplies, electronics, etc., and there are no other options in that area where one can go for those things.

It's rated 8.5/10 at Foursquare with 951 votes, so someone must like it. We used to go there a lot when we lived in Midtown. The only thing I had a problem with was the layout of the parking lots, and I know there have been some problems with crime in the parking garage. Neither is likely to be at issue in the Braves complex.

I also like Town Brookhaven well enough. I don't know, this guy just seems to be reviled, and I thought there might be a story behind it.

That's an incredibly misleading photo. That development is basically a giant parking lot:

Partly because he builds sprawling things in areas where people want density, but mostly because it's fashionable to hate him.

There is a story. There are hundreds of posts on this forum about it. Not sure how you missed it.

That's very helpful, thank you. I'm familiar with hundreds of posts hating on Fuqua; I'm not familiar with the story behind them. Perhaps they predate my time in Atlanta.

Fuqua has got a lot of people unhappy with him in my neighborhood because of his attempts to bypass the Beltline Zoning Overlay and build a giant suburban style big-box and parking lot right along the Beltline. The resulting compromise with a somewhat more urban and dense development that is going in is not that bad in my opinion, but he definitely rubbed people the wrong way in this part of town with his disregard for the neighborhood's zoning.
