My only concern with using the Edgewood/Randolph corridor is what will happen to the current bike lanes on Edgewood Ave? It is a major bike commuting corridor for cyclists on the eastside to get downtown.

This is a good question. There's a street parking lane that could be removed to give a bit more room to the travel/streetcar lanes, while keeping bike lanes along the curbs. It looks to me as if there is more than enough parking lot space for every day use.

Here's apparently the plan from the TIGER 7 grant:

Here's apparently the plan from the TIGER 7 grant:
Unless the on street parking lane became a 2-way cycle track.

That wouldn't be too bad now would it?

Except business owners, like Thumbs Up Diner, will fight the removal of on street parking.

Parking doesn't seem that bad in the immediate vicinity, at least in my experience going to Ammazza. It's at least not as bad as the portion of Edgewood towards downtown.

On another note, it seems like the second stop at Irwin and Randolph is ridiculously close to the Beltline stop. .2 miles from one stop to the next. Seems unnecessary and likely to cause congestion.

It serves the development and therefore could encourage ridership. The BeltLine stop will serve a different area and will act as the end of line.

Yeup, if some of that surface parking was emphasized over using the street, it should be fine. Granted, I don't know how much of that is purely private parking vs. general use lots. Ensuring enough parking should defiantly be on the to do list, but I think the businesses will be happy enough to see streetcars in the area.

Yeah, dunno, feels pretty close, especially considering the traffic around Krog. I get the stop on the Beltline, but the one on Irwin just seems like it'll get in the way. Wouldn't be too bad to me if they pulled it down around the corner on Radolph. Close enough to serve the area, but off the busier road.

That said, Randolph is pretty narrow, with only one traffic lane on each side, and only one parking lane. It might be too tight for a stop.

Interesting. I'm surprised they're still using the phasing pictures, considering the plans changed not too long ago. I guess the phasing is still loosely being applied, though priority is given to routes with funding secured?
