You just don't like anyone having a different opinion than you on this issue.

Still unable to consider things on a spectrum, I see.

Hence I also said 'our'. I won't spare you the concern, since I actually DO care and DO have an interest in the future of our downtown.

I want it to be a vibrant, livable place, inviting to both commuters and residents alike. I want the streets activated, the transit improved, the vacant store fronts filled, the parking lots redeveloped, the blank walls replaced, and the connector capped. To say I don't actually have interest in downtown's future is rather insulting, to say the least.

I want what's best for our city, and I just do not see a Casino being anywhere close to that.

No, he understands it but is ignoring it in favor of a moralistic argument because he has no response to it.

Couldn't have said it better, how about we start by make it a livable place with say a grocery store first before we ever consider opening a casino.

Umm... congratulations, an out-of-state company has appropriated $42 million from your local population and visitors.

Yeah, exactly. This is essentially money being vacuumed straight out of the state. Sure, some construction firms got some money and it will support some maybe slightly better than minimum wage jobs. But none of that is comes close to matching the wealth that is being extracted from the local populace.

Sure, fine, there are valid arguments not to choose one vice over the other. But to act like this is some positive addition for the local population is a very myopic view
