I just wish some of us would actually have the ability to vote on what we want and not have our decisions made for us by the religious and morality police.

Area with the highest percentage of votes in favor gets the casino in their city.

No. Build it somewhere else if we MUST have a casino in the state, but by all means, keep it out of the city.

Well, depends on how the strip club interacts with the side-walk. Same goes for a tobacco and package store. It's not the action I care about - I'm not against gambling - it's that I don't want a Casino in downtown where an office building or apartment or train station or government building or any number of other structures would be a better use of the limited land in our central business district.

As I have said plenty of times before. It IS NOT the behavior I care about, it's how the facility for that behavior integrates into the urban fabric.

70% of MGM's revenues are from entertainment and not casinos. An MGM casino/resort in Atlanta would offer a lot more than just gambling. For example, MGM National Harbor in MD will offer shows, dining, a spa, hotel, bars, and shopping. There is something for everyone. It WILL boost the DC area's entertainment options as the current MGM entertainment schedule brings never before seen acts to the area.

And new casinos aren't the concrete fortresses of the past. They incorporate a lot of natural lighting and find ways to integrate into the neighborhood. Here are two examples:

MGM National Harbor (Lots of glass)

There are a lot of glass features letting in natural light.

The MGM Springfield (Under Construction)

They are a fortress in that the aim to keep their patrons inside and focus all activity on the interior, like a shopping mall or lifestyle center.

Why would anyone be against this? It would be many high end retailers and restaurants to downtown to cater to the casino crowd.
