I and many downtown booster, residents, and business leaders do not see a casino as 'enhancing' the area.

Those are probably the same people that think strip clubs, liquor stores, fast food restaurants, cheating on taxes, going 1 mile over the speed limit, jaywalking, watching porn, playing on the internet at work, having sex before marriage, lusting, smoking weed/cigarettes, cursing, taking long lunch breaks but only claiming they went to lunch for 30 minutes, etc are ok.

They also probably said the ferris wheel would not enhance downtown. They also probably said MARTA would not enhance Atlanta 30+ years ago.

Atlanta proper is only 132 sqare miles, so 1 square mile (probably more already) is pretty significant out of that. It's not like that square mile isn't already devoted to tourists anyway.

At best, you're not really creating any new tax revenue or value.

At worst, you're actively syphoning money from the city.

Hardly. There are distinct difference here with oportunity costs associated with the land use and buisness options. Comparing the ferris wheel, which is on such a different scale than any casino would be, bot physically and financially, is quite disengenous.

NO to casinos in downtown Atlanta, we need to build a neighborhood not a tourist-only area.
Agreed. Casinos would not help downtown.

Not at all, it is the same people who are trying to transform downtown into a neighborhood. SkyView Atlanta is not on the same level as a casino.

Anyone against this casino is not Pro- Atlanta. This isn't going to be some section 8 casino. This would be a world class casino like in Vegas will several world class restaurants, shows, hotel, nightclubs plus $$$ for hope scholarships. If you are against that I cant really say anything else on this topic.

Let's clean it up, let's continue Atlanta re-construction with millions of dollars, that will bring 3 times the amount of "international tourists" to our city, not a carnival ride. These priorities seem ass backwards to me.

So bad to have 1 square mile dedicated to tourist out of the 137 square miles in the city of Atlanta? Atlanta will never be a real city with that type of thinking
