I am honestly surprised. Casinos. I mean over and over and over the past decades we've seen them ruin cities. The only place it really worked is Vegas because the casinos are so huge, they can fund security etc adequately and fund the city. Even then, I don't want to live in a Vegas. But we'd end up more like Atlantic City more likely. Savannah would be the brunt of the downfall, I fear.
I like Bernie. Don't know if I'm voting for him, but i do respect him far more than Hillary. I'd look towards New Orleans as an example where a casino can blend into the existing landscap without changing the overall feel of the city. You obviously don't think of New Orleans as a casino town, but there is one there and it looks pretty successful to me.

On Wall Street, they may be betting over a house that doesn't even exist.

That is a horrible example of a positive. The casino is not high quality and Atlanta does not want to be like NOLA.

So you all think next time they will just vote for 2 casinos in Atlanta so it will pass because it would have passed this time if it didnt have those 2 smaller casinos somewhere outside of Atlanta the bill.

Harrah's New Orleans replaced an architectural icon, the Rivergate, and is universally hated by people who live there.

According to who though? The casino is very popular. Who's objecting to the casino?

But there it is. I don't think you'll find many people that like casinos in their own town. Casinos are windowless bunkers because they don't want you to notice you just spent 12 hours inside drinking and smoking and losing money I think.. (I am Surprised the NOLA one is smoke free? That would seem to be most of their demographic!) I mean I actually enjoyed the business trips in Vegas. I even won 40 bucks at the end of it all! But I can't imagine living near the strip. Maybe the lobbyists will make it only for ATL next year. Wouldn't you all up in ATL like to be able to continue to enjoy beautiful Jekyll and the Islands like they are now? Imagine if Jekyll had casinos! All the cigs and beer bottles on the beaches and paths and stuff..loud music and blinking lights at night..
