I don't see much that looks historic in those close-ups...that concerns me more than anything. The aerial looks great, but from that far back it's hard to get much detail. It definitely looks better than the first one, though I'm still worried about the portfolio of this developer. It looks like mostly suburban Walmart shopping centers.

I agree with the historic preservation, but I love the look of the buildings in the renderings...give a very classic look....the ground floor retail looks really well done if the actual buildings is anything like these renderings.

Still though, why is everything so tiny?

It's right in the middle of downtown of a major city, and it's gotta be these little diminutive 6-story buildings?

I see 7 towers over 10 stories in the aerial nighttime rendering...what are you talking about? I think the scaling is appropriate for this area.

These still look very preliminary and I doubt the final product will end up looking much like this as far as detail is concerned. I'm thinking that this more of a conceptual drawing with approximate sizes, shapes and placements of buildings just to quell the uproar over the parking lot. The density is appropriate though IMO.

And aren't the high rises residential? We can't really expect 40+ floor apartment/condo towers at this point in time for downtown...I agree, the height and scale looks good. It's a whole lot of white people for downtown Atlanta tho...

Here are a couple of comparative images that I just threw together.

Before:

After:

It looks like a LOT of the actual historical stuff is either hidden in the aerials, or underground, and a ton of new storefront up since there's just so much open plaza being taken over by this project, at least on the street-level.

You know Atlanta developers...make sure you put in as much white people in renderings as you possibly can...you should have seen the Atlantic Station revamp renderings put out not too long ago....nothing but white people literally in the renderings despite the fact that at least 30% of the customers are black. It's hilarious.

Maybe it's just the aerial angle, but those buildings look very low rise, not high rise at all. Looks like they're about parking garage height. And the nearest fairly tall building, 2 Peachtree, just totally dwarfs everything there. And that's just a 44-story.

Could be I'm just looking at it wrong.
