This. It should be HRT or bust for the 400 corridor.

New York's subway gets state funding. Atlanta's doesn't. That's the difference.

I like the ideas of the ART and other 10 minute headways for major corridors, although it appears the I-20 East BRT is gone from the plan.

Lose what riders? They would pick up new riders over what they have now, that's for sure.

On the other hand, the reason why I don't like it is because it's a transfer just to continue in the same direction.

Would much prefer heavy rail into Roswell and Alpharetta.

Not sure if it's still in or not, but this was a letter to Fulton's chairman, so maybe it just wasn't relevant to mention.

Or maybe they did axe it. Interesting.

They would lose potential riders because of the transfer and buses traveling in managed lanes.

I also don't really get how the stops would work, with a BRT on the expressway. The bus would have to exit the freeway at each of those stops, use local roads to access the station, stop, let people on and off, make its way back to the highway via local traffic, continue on, and then have to do the same exact thing 4 more times at each exit?

Even with dedicated lanes, that doesn't sound like it would be a whole lot more convenient or faster than driving. Whereas HRT with stops spread far out like that would be pretty amazing.

As I understand it, the BRT would have stations built in the median of the expressway. So the bus would not need to exit the expressway in most instances.

Of news to me is that it looks like the Blue line extension west to 285 could actually happen, which I really like. Also details about where all kinds of new bus routes and BRT/rapid bus lines would be.

And I would actually be fine with the BRT along 400N to Windward, though I would still prefer HRT.
This is actually a ton of information. How did you find this? This is the Bus maps they were talking about, and shows that they are actually planning on doing the I-20 West station! The map in the PDF does not show the I-20 BRT, nor does it show up in the options.

Interesting...
