I guess the Braves dont care since they bring in more money outside of the games at Battery Park

Guess we can at least agree that whole "moving closer to fans" line was bogus then, right?

When I was a kid in the mid-90's, we went to the Braves game as a fun, occasional special treat. Not regularly. It's expensive, especially for half decent seats.

And it was fun because the Braves were full of Hall of Fame players and always near the top of the division. Hint, hint.

I always knew that was BS. It was all about the $$$ from Cobb County and being able to generate revenue 365 days a year instead of 81 days per year

Not really. The attendance average is still dropping. I am sure this season will end up below others once it is done.

The first two games were sell outs but if you average the remaining three games they have had so far (27,832), which is likely a closer reflection of the full season, you still get the lowest average attendance since 1991 (not including the years at Turner after they announced they were leaving Atlanta).

Heck the still "opening week" game yesterday only had 21,832. It will be really sad if their average attendance at this new stadium drops below even their already low lame-duck years at Turner.

Weekday games will just about always drag the average down, especially early in the season. Numbers will tick up over the summer with kids out of school. That is how this works.

What do you think the final average attendance figure will be?

Last year was 24,980. You think it will be above or below that?

I think it will end up around just under 30,000 if the team continues to be bad. If they somehow make a playoff run, I think it could tick upward of that number.

I think it will beat the lame duck years at Turner. I mean you can't really drop your popularity below announcing your plans to leave the city and still playing games there.

But yeah, 30k average attendance is probably achievable at STP, that is still well below the average attendance they had at Turner (~32k). I mean, aren't they supposed to get a boost from a new stadium?

But if they end up just below that at 29k attendance it will be pretty sad because it means even playing in the new stadium, all their seasons since they announced their move are worse attended than all their others going back to 1991.
