It would be a trip all these people in Atlanta dreaming of Amazon downtown in the Gulch and they go to Stonecrest or somewhere like Detroit or Baltimore instead. But we all know Stonecrest cant even keep a Samsclub, BestBuy or Sears, yet alone attract Amazon

I don't think anyone here is talking about this as if Atlanta is a slam dunk, nor do I think it would be a shock if Amazon went another way. It's mostly been about discussing Atlanta's qualifications, and it's hard to deny that compared to its peer cities it checks a lot of boxes.

Transit might be what makes Atlanta loose it, if there were a man reason, but our is still better that Austin or Detroit.

More likely traffic and Atlanta's unwillingness to do anything about it for the past 20 years and public education. Or alternatively, simply Amazon choosing to be in the northeast closer to MIT, Harvard, Penn, etc. or choosing a state like Washington with no state income tax like Texas.

But Atlanta does check a lot of the boxes and isn't alone among the contenders with traffic and public education issues and state income taxes.

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/27/sili...-ceo-says.html

Redfin CEO (Seattle based real estate company) suggests Silicon Valley will massively move out of Silicon Valley to less expensive places. Suggests there is no way Amazon moves to NYC or Boston because of prices. Talent is seeking lower housing costs. Doesn't specifically mention Atlanta, but the point is that businesses are starting to leave the coasts for the lower cost center of the country.

I think Boston would be the city to worry about losing to (just like the Superbowl, lol).

I personally think Hartsfield and our Eastern Standard time zone are our strongest assets, and will give Atlanta the finally nod with a planned sixth runway and no flight restrictions permitting overnight cargo flights. Besides DFW airport, I really don't see a stronger contender logistically speaking, which has 8 runways. Most if not all the heavily populated large Northeastern cities, have flight restrictions that will hinder Amazon's flight plans unless Amazon plan to keep cargo operations exclusive from HQ2 operations.
