Hmmm...its all about culture..i notice that those from the North are not quite as hospitable or friendly, and probably won't speak to you if they don't know you, probably because of how speaking up North means something different then speaking in the South. Just an example (not saying its true)speaking to someone in the South usually means your just trying to be friendly and say hi, whereas speaking to someone up North may mean a person is "plotting" on you or something negative. It has everything to do with where you are from and how you were raised.

White Southerners? I dislike the nascar sort culturally but as individuals they are perfectly fine aside from those they call "rednecks" I find white Southerners fine and in some case great examples of a traditional American culture, people are really connected to their history and ancestors. Better than most population we have in the North. But it is stupid to say we have the same culture. Plain ol political correct nonsense.
Black Southerners? I'm not sure who the "them" you are refering to are. I love them, great music, greatfood, good personalities and where most of my cuture comes from.

I guess its a matter of perspective. My Aunt that moved down here from Michigan a few years back marveled at how friendly the locals were, but months later, she realized that she had to realize who was just being friendly, and which ones were trying to get over on her. YMMV of course.

Southern Black Culture and Southern White Culture are very, very similar...only slight, minute differences (if any). My point--here in the American South, it's just Southern Culture.

(if the arbitrary, invented racial divide can be overcome...and I hope it will eventually...it will be such a beautiful (Southern!) thing!)
I really have to disagree with that. While southern whites and blacks do share several similarities, they don't share nearly as many as blacks do amongst each other.

One way that I would put it is that southern whites have a lot more in common with all blacks than northern whites do.

So I guess I'm saying that the distinction between northern and southern blacks is pretty irrelevant.

Well southerners aren't always that friendly either. On any given day, the average southern black will not speak to you when you pass by them.

Let's say thats true, they are more inclined to speak than a Northern black...period...I've lived in both worlds...in NY, people look at me funny for speaking to them...in the ATL..they just speak back....so actually you are wrong...the AVERAGE southern black will speak, too bad you've ran into the ones that aren't average...don't know where you've been..lol
