Georgia Brain Train has been working on getting an Atlanta-Athens commuter rail for a long. I'm 100% in unwavering support, and would definitely use it for my commute.

Their official website is currently under (re)construction, but will hopefully be back up soon.

I have heard about the brain train. It only connects colleges. To me, that is not enough. That is why I have typed a petition to have transit options expanded. I am working on the college crowd, but I would like to get some people outside of the colleges involved. To be adequate, the trains need to expand to the suburbs like Woodstock, Lawrenceville, etc. Expanding it to Rome and Athens is even better. As a Geographic Information Science major, I am trying to make a map proposing my own plan.

That's not true. The plan includes numerous stops that are not colleges, such as Lawrenceville, Lilburn, Tucker, Northlake, etc.

The brain train doesn't connect to Cobb County.

Because Brain Train is supposed connect Tech/Emory with UGa. That path goes through Gwinnett county (and Cobb is no where in that path).

As a side note, while I am a supporter/user of mass transit -- I do not think it is going to expand in metro Atlanta. (lack of density, lack of will, etc.)

And related to Atlanta-Athens train talk, that has been going on atleast since the early 90-s.

Sadly, the State and the way it is run at present is THE largest roadblock to untangle the mess in Metro Atlanta.
I recall something about public transit funding being mentioned in the state constitution, as in little/no public money can be used for it. That is absolutely incredible.

I hope one day the whole MARTA system can grow into something much more grand, something I assume the original designers had in mind. The system works now with pennies on the dollar; just imagine if it had twice the funding

I have no vendetta against Cobb County, believe me, but arjay scored one with that retort.
