LOL I've never heard anyone say that about a scorpion.
I've encountered quite a few at my house but they've all but gone away since I got an exterminator to come *crosses fingers*. You might consider getting the exterminator just to be safe because oftentimes when you see one or two, there could be plenty more living inside the walls of your house. I'd try to keep them out before they get comfortable

Check out the photos in the first post on this thread. I'd hate to see momma and her babies crawling across my kitchen floor like this! Ewww!

Oh great. It looked like about 10 or so on the back of that momma. The one we found was small. So that means there could be many others!

I told my next door neighbor because they have a small child (toddler). They haven't had any in their house (or seen them).

I wonder why it would just be my house and not my neighbors?

We do live in close proximity to a small run off creek from 360. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? It's a small wooded area back behind our back yard.

Seriously, if you've only found one, then it's not like an infestation is imminent. As I said earlier, when we were in our old house here, we had 40 in eight months. Our neighbors across the street has the same problem but everyone else in our neighborhood would find a couple a year. In our current house, we had none the first couple of years and then last summer/fall we found two. Our neighbors found one last year but it was the first time in 5 years. They are native here, if you live in an area with rocks and trees, you may occasionally get one in the house. It's not a big deal. Just make sure to check your shoes before you put them on.

I'm doing just that. I'm so paranoid I'm going to get stung. Many years ago I lived out in Buda. At that time, some 30 years ago, it was desolate. We lived off a dirt road in a trailer. We were infested bad. We had them coming up the drain in the shower and they would crawl on me while watching TV on the couch. I was so freaked out we immediately moved, giving no notice to the landlord. I'm in a situation now where I just can't pick up and move. Plus, in my 50 years I've never heard of Austin proper having scorpions and then all of a sudden there is one. I guess living near the creek was a bad idea then. Thanks for your reply.
