Just don't get caught up in the "hype."

Again.......Trader Joe's (which I went to for the first time 30 years ago) is OK. It was fine for the time and a NICHE MARKET THEN.

I can walk to Trader's on Bee Cave , but will probably only go there once in a Blue Moon for .........I dunno.........cheese and crackers? Cheap wine?

I have been there and done that.......and it's not what it is cracked up to be IMO....30+ years.

Went yesterday, I am sad to report they are out of cookie butter
Picked up my coffee, some tasty rice crackers and almond butter along with the fruit leather ends that my DD loves.

Hype isn't what is sustaining TJs. In California, it's been around forever, and it's not novelty that keeps people coming back. For my family, it was a piece of our weekly shopping. You can't get everything there. But I got as many of the items as I could because the prices are great. Even the Annie Chung's udon soup is 50 cents less at TJs than at Walmart. I don't understand the animosity towards TJs unless maybe you work for Sprouts? Just don't shop there and presume to know what's best.

We get it. You began shopping at TJ's 30 years ago. You don't like it any more. Trust me. We get it.

Hmm, liking something the way it was 30 years ago but not now, where have we heard that before?

So, you are somehow (in your minds) thinking I'm "wistful" for The Old Days of Trader Joe's.........you totally missed my point!

OK....sorry.....don't mean to "trash" Trader Joe's. It was a place I went to very infrequently in CA when it was in it's prime in CA. It's a place I will probably go to very infrequently here....even though I can walk there easily.

I am "thankful" in that it isn't in the Northern Outburbs. The Company did a good research job in their locating.

Well, I'm not Rick, but let me say what I love:

Breakfast cereals - especially the "clusters" - cranberry, etc.
Dips, such as the bacon cheddar and most of the hummus.
Packaged cheeses at great prices - manchego, crumbled Gorgonzola
Fresh referigerated pizza dough
Marinated meats - carne asada, bulgogi - style, etc.
Frozen "stuff" - fantastic Asian entrees like Kung Pao and Mandarin chicken, authentic "flammkuechen", chocolate croissants
Lowest priced creme fraiche anywhere
Packaged charcuterie - salamis, prosciutto, Serano ham, diced pancetta

Some of those you CAN find at CM or HEB - some you can't. But never at TJ's prices.
