What if you want a new Benz. You save well for the job you have but its a little more than you want to spend.

Anyways how do people get to own luxury vehicles if they are a little more than they want to spend?

I like to buy cars I can't afford new. Just buy them used. Just make sure you can afford the repairs.

I want a new Benz, too, but some dreams stay dreams, unfortunately.

35k isn't that much and doesn't buy you a luxury car. You can save up and make sacrifices and afford what you want, it is up to you.

Depends your definition of a high paying job is.

You can save and put a large down on a pre-owned or new one. If you buy used and it is out of warranty, you better have some savings to make those expensive repairs bills that may come.

But if you have to ask, you probably cannot afford it. I have no idea why you would want to stretch your finances like that, other than some infantile reason like to try to impress people.

This is a question of priorities.

I've seen plenty of poorer neighborhoods where people live in low income housing but there are Mercedes in the parking lot, women wearing expensive name brand clothing to show off that they can afford it, expensive basketball sneakers, but in reality they have nothing but the clothes on their backs and the fancy car parked in the street.

When you put other people's opinion of you ahead of your comfort and saftey you've got a priority issue.

Why do you feel you need a luxury car when a used Camry would serve you just as well?

you could save the money you didn't spend on your future (ie house, retirement, trip)

leasing is one way around the cost.

OP could buy a CPO.
Good warranty and if a new one is "a little" too much, this may get it down to his price point.

Even used is expensive. Back in Jan 2008 I got my "dream car" - a 2007 Chrysler 300C AWD Hemi (I wanted a luxury/performance crossover). I paid around $30k with 18,000 miles on it, which new ran about $45k. Has 205,000 today and still love it.
