I still have my old Galaxy SII. Can I use that as an MP3 player (I'm running out of space on my Note 5)?

I have a iPod shuffle its plug and play as with all apple products I could also use my cell phone but easier to hide my iPod shuffle holds 2 gig of music and is the size of a half dollar you can pick them up for under $50.

Maybe. That's getting a little old though, Google might not be fully supporting that version of Android anymore. Worth a try though.

They are being slowly phased out, not eliminated cross the board after a certain model year.

But plenty of aftermarket options with CD/DVD players out there. Use Crutchfield's sizing to determine what fits your particular dash.

These should be phased out a decade ago. Instead mp3 player plugs and apps should be the standard.

Do you appreciate high-fidelity sound?

Yes, which is why I'd never try to listen to it in a car trying to compete with the noise from the road, the engine, and other cars. And other cars' sound systems when you get down to it.

I have no problem listening to the sound of CD in my car. I already have expectations of what I will hear and what I won't, with respect to environmental factors you rightly metioned. The higher quality my music source is, the more it masks out those influences, for me. I'm also likely a lot older than those of you who listen exclusively to portable players and phones in your vehicles, I understand - that's your generation, but I do listen to both the phone and CD when I'm driving.

I've done testing, and for me it's pretty much impossible to hear the difference between a CD, a FLAC file, and a 320k MP3 while driving at highway speeds in most cars (excluding 12 speaker luxury cars with a ton of sound insulation anyway). The difference between those and a 160k VBR MP3 is a little more pronounced but you still have to be really paying attention to hear it, and I mean paying attention enough to distract you from the road.

BTW I'm 42 years old, so you might want to think a bit about the "generation" thing
