Exactly. Extrapolating the concept of computerized safety overrides to autonomous vehicles results in personal vehicles becoming obsolete for most people. That becomes a public utility and BART becomes the largest purchaser of "cars" in the USA. The expensive cars could be personally owned, but i'm not sure if they mix with other traffic as manually driven or autonomous, or used only on track days at the local race track.
I liked the comment by a poster that she wants to have her own vehicle, even if autonomous, just to be able to keep the interior clean.
