^^^^^ And that was on 8/6/23.

Three days after that (8/9/23)....got gas again at the same station....again $2.99 9/10.

Today, a week later (8/16/23).....got gas again at the same station ....and now the 7/30/23 bump is true again....price is back up to $3.09 9/10.
That station is still $3.09 9/10.

I happened by another station that is more convenient and with a better grade for the same $3.09 9/10 so got gas there today (8/27).

I see a lot of $5.50 - $5.70 in Seattle area.
Costco is getting hammered with the recent carbon tax imposed by volume of fuel sales at each distributor in WA.

Less expensive to top off in Portland and get full service. Many station owners are not allowing self service, even tho OR law now makes self service a choice for station owners (but not for drivers).

Very interesting.

I didn't know that the change in the law left 'control of the change' in the hands of station owners.

House Bill 2426 created provisions that allow for the following:
  • Self-serve is an option for these stations, not a requirement. Some stations may elect not to offer self-serve.

https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/l...26/A-Engrossed

One of the stations I visited yesterday had a sign posted on even the diesel pumps (self service has always been allowed on Diesel and Motorcycles (at station owner's discretion))
NO SELF SERVICE!!!

Our business is commited to the support of our community and our employees, and we will not be allowing self service, as per the provisions of OR House Bill 2426, allowing businesses to set their own policy.
Their's was the lowest price of (4) adjacent fuel stations. (and there was no line)
