Here in Miami a few years ago a gas station carjacking resulted in two murders.(car owner and passenger) The murderers and would-be thieves left the car at the scene, a Mustang Cobra, because it was manual transmission and none of the three could drive manual.

Kinda hard to call that one a success story, though.

I drive one but find it far too impractical and uneconomical (nowadays) to purchase another. I still think they are fun, but rush hour traffic in a stick just sucks and so does the gas mileage. As you all know, it used to be that stick would provide better mileage, but the modern engine has gotten so efficient that automatics will give you better now. But, of course, you pay with a lack of power (generally).

Yes. I don't drive daily, so a stick sounds good to me. My wife drives to work and occasionally hits traffic. She vetoes, outright, any idea of a manual.

No matter what car I get in, from time to time, I reach for the stick. Much more fun with a stick.

My favorite car of all time was a 68 Chevelle Malibu with 3 speed on the column! I wish I had it today

I think this all depends on what the car is. The gear change on the auto can be a lot quicker than the manual version.

When majority of my driving is work and back and sitting in highway traffic, an auto is a godsend.

I drove a few years of this with a manual and did not enjoy it at all.

I want my next car to be another manual. Just like driving a manual. Really forces you to stay on top of driving. You can't be twatting, smoking your cig, and drinking your starbucks at the same time. Really ****ing awesome the feeling of driving a stick. When I talk to the other students in the program most of them say they can't drive a stick. We are in the minority here, but we must keep the stick shift alive. Shout out to all my fellow manual transmission peeps.
