LIke every city in the world, Baltimore has safer and less safe neighborhooods. The generalization of saying that "Baltimore is not a safe city" is the same as saying the "United States is not a safe country". Both have high levels of crime. But, in both you can find "safer" neighborhoods. Like I said before, I am staying right here and taking my chances because I have personally witnessed more crime in suburbia than I have in my neighborhood. I wouldn't call Baltimore a safe city. I wouldn't call anywhere on Earth a safe place for that matter. Some folks are living in the past and thinking that crime is over the entire city yet magically disappears when you cross the "border". Get a life!

Jonjj, you're right. The 'burbs of Baltimore are riddled with crime too. I have no idea what the answer to all of this is, but the corrupt police department, city hall and school system is not helping.

Default Stay away from Baltimore

Obviously, I have read the comments. I lived in Baltimore from 1958-2004. My advice to humans, Stay away from Baltimore. I have spent considerable time in other cities, DC, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago, Philly, etc. Baltimore has something no other city has; demons, inhuman, depraved reprobates. Plain and simple. Yeah, most cities have their areas of crime, SE, west side, south side, but Bmore is N,E,W,S. Not to mention the Rats. You can own a $200,000 property with rats and crime, a very expensive slumland, that's Baltimore. Of course except if you are Rich. Obviously.

hehehe---yes, I have seen rats in Bmore. But wait, now that I think about it, I have seen rats in all of the other places you have mentioned also. Good God, I didn't realize Bmore had all of those things and I have been here for over 20 years. Wow. Makes me wonder who this Mr. Smith is?????

I experienced more crime and filth (including vermin) in DC than I ever have here in Baltimore.

Default Interactive Homicide Map for Baltimore

I believe this interactive homicide map for Baltimore from the Baltimore Sun speaks quite loudly. Happy Trails.
