I remember Infinite_heights77 saying in another thread that there are a lot of Yankees fans in Baltimore. Is that really true?

At Camden Yards during Yankee games, one can see a lot of visitors and bandwagon Yankee and Sawx fans; OPACY is a cheap stadium and easy commute for them to invade. A Sawx fan from Beantown told me once that it was cheaper for him to come to Baltimore, get a hotel room and see a series than to do it up there at home.

Of course they are visitors!!! Their presence goes without saying.

Dude, I used to work at Camden Yards! I know what I speak of. If it wasn't for New Yorkers and folks from Boston and their money, we'd never make any money.

i think for people like me to reap and appreciate the past glory of baltimore the present needs clean up.
i am concerned about the 3% conviction rate in the court system compared to the 63% in the surrounding area.

I took a vacation to DC and after spending about four days there touring the usual stuff I decided to take the train up to Baltimore for a few days for a change of pace. I was pleasantly surprised. There's no where in California with the kind of history or architecture that you have. I loved the red brick rowhouses everywhere and the walkable aspect of the neighborhoods. I stopped by a visitor kiosk at the Inner Harbor and a nice lady told where some safe, historic areas to walk were located. I loved my two days there and wished I had more time. Great architecture, interesting history, friendly people and awesome food. Back to the people - everyone was really helpful. Show a bit of interest in their town and you'll end up with a ton of insider suggestions for places to go. Just walking around downtown I lost track of the times people would nod and say "how you doin'?". That never happens in LA or SF. I lived in Des Moines, Iowa for a year and a half and Baltimore folks are easily as friendly.

Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed your time here in Charm City. We have a whole lot of problems here, but as you point out, the people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet, particularly in a large urban environment. Our friends and neighbors are a big reason we are still here, and they are almost to a one native Baltimoreans who are somehow born free of the hubris of xenophobia.

Just white folks?? Not black folks?

I have met many black folks who have made a good life for themselves and their families in this city.

I think you need to get out more and meet more people.

It is an underrated city. And as a matter of fact, as I mentioned before (without starting a rivalry), I like it better than DC, simply because the people there for the most part are just more down-to-earth and friendly. I went up to Baltimore this past weekend for 3-days. Went to the Ravens/Falcons game, went to the aquarium, and went to the Sports Museum. It was the first time I had been to Baltimore in a year (I live 3.5 hours south of the city). The one heartbreaking thing was seeing all of the homelessness around town. It seemed like it was more of it this year than last year. I had just went up to DC 2 months ago and didn't see as many panhandlers in that city as I did in Baltimore.
