Most of the games so far have been so boring and poorly played that they might as well have well have Pittsburgh against Seattle. So what the hell, put everyone in the playoffs, round robin, single elimination. Like the NCAA basketball, with no need for the first round reducing the field from 64 to 32. Every team that's in the major leagues gets invited.
The regular season doesn't count for anything anyway, when they don't play balanced schedules.
A team has a limited number of roster spots, a limited number of coaching positions, a limited number of administrative and scouting positions, and a limited budget.
The team needs to fill those positions with the best people possible while staying within the budget.
If there is a better person available outside the organization then the team should look into getting them.
But getting rid of a person, 'because they've got to go', and not having a suitable replacement wouldn't make the team better.

So why are the Phillies, a team who reached the WS last year still able to make moves in the offseason? You are saying the Rangers can't do the same thing? I really need you to talk to me now.

This isn't extremely complicated

Every team should always be trying to get better. Sometimes that is by replacing a player with a better player. Sometimes that is by replacing a free agent with another player. Sometimes that is by making trades. Sometimes that is by letting younger players continue to develop.

What's "too many?" And how far into November do you want to see the playoffs and Series extended?
