I know, it wasn't a given that the Phillies would've won game 2 if Harper wasn't doubled up, but who knows what fate had in store.
Tonight I'm on the horns of a dilemma to choose if I spend my time on Thursday Night Football or the Phillies trying to beat the Braves. I'm rooting for the Phillies.

I can tell you.. If you're looking from the perspective of good competition.. I think the odds for that are much more with the baseball game.
Because.. Well.. Let's say that I would be surprised if Mahomes sees action in the 4th quarter tonight.
If I was a bettin' man, that's where my money would go.
While I hope and think the Phillies win.. And.. I actually hope they just embarrass the Braves.. I think there's much better odds that they have a competitive game, and there's a much better chance that the Braves might win or that it's a close game.
Three of four top seeds are out, two in a sweep. That week off is a killer to the killer instinct that got them to the top seeds.
An all-Texas ALCS.
A Philadelphia-Phoenix NLCS with none of the usual NY - west coast big market teams.

And the Astros are the only division winner remaining…..the rest are all Wild Card teams.
Nearly the same as last year.. Only the AL teams made it through last year, the NL was all Wild Cards. And, honestly, the Yankees BARELY made it through against Cleveland.
If I'm not mistaken.. No extra innings so far this year? Last year seemed like half the games went to extras, but, it was really just more the fact that the small number of games that did go to extra innings, REALLY went to extra innings. The 15 and 18 inning games..
Some stats.. And I won't say that I'm 100% right on this.
The Phillies are 10-4 all time in the postseason vs the Atlanta Braves. 4-2 in the 1993 NLCS and 3-1 in each of the past 2 years' NLDS.
So far as I know, those are the only times they've met in the postseason. Which.. Is a bit odd considering how one of the two teams has pretty much been a playoff team since 1991.. It's just rarely matched up where BOTH of them were playoff teams at the same time.
Oh.. And even though the football game was.. Far more competitive than I expected.. The Phillies/Braves game was much better to watch. That.. Was a good game.
Exactly how discouraging does it have to be when on the first pitch of the game.. Your ace gets Schwarbombed.
many EXCELLENT pitchers have had this happen to them many, many times. I'd love to see stats on how many times Maddux or Glavine or Halladay gave up a first inning home run and.. That was it. They went into lockdown after that.
I think the Astros may be done for this season. Just one heck of a bad time for Tucker, Altuve and Diaz to go into a tailspin at the plate. With Maldonado in the lineup, good hitters slumping is not what is needed.

Let's see what Houston does when the guys go to Arlington, and the 'Stros have actually been a better road team. I do realize the Rangers have a little bit different lineup than they had a few weeks ago (and it's an uptick for them), but the Astros have shown significant road power this year. Not as many boo-birds in Arlington as the Astros have experienced powerfully in other places, but it could be enough to motivate these guys. Every game will be a must-win. Can Houston accomplish what the Red Sox actually did to the Yankees in the '04 ALCS? It's a stretch, but it's possible.
