There are plenty of other places to shoot them other than in "neighborhoods". Most of these area aren't like a typical neighborhood, but much more spread out. It is manageable, IF you have the will.

You really do need to stay on-topic, which is feral pigs, not the locations of my residences and other properties, developed or otherwise.

Oh? The reason for my asking is very on topic … and that is because I am wondering how much experience you have hunting pig on Big Island (or any other neighbor island).

You're going to have to go down that rabbit hole all by yourself. And "hunting" isn't exactly what needs to be done. Eradication, control, extermination, but not hunting in the classic sense.

If you don't want to employ one of the only actions that will work, that is up to you.

I see. Well, it was an honest question to explore the issue of pig hunting / eradication / control / extermination … wondering what your thoughts and advice were based on. But you’d rather play some sort of cagey game. This begins to firm up my curiosity that you don’t know much if anything about pig hunting in Hawaiian terrain and vegetation … nor about population, both pig and human.

Too bad. I’ve hunted pig with my sons and other local hunters on BI … dogs and knives, as well as firearms. Would have been interested to compare notes.

Oh please. You're not fooling anyone. You were trying to get me to say I am not from Hawaii so you could use that to try and discredit me - as opposed to carrying out a legitimate discussion. This isn't my first rodeo, bubba, and all you Hawaiian local yokels all sound the same with your "Do you live in Hawaii?" blather. That wore thin about 20 years ago.

And, again, what I am proposing isn't running a beast to ground with a dog and then when it is totally exhausted going in like Mr. Big Pooch and slitting it's throat.

It's about exterminating a pest en masse that can, unchecked, run rampant. A job for PROFESSIONALS. Not hunters, but exterminators of a somewhat larger "bug". You locals would be the least qualified for such a task, IMHO. The professionals are in the South and Texas, and they aren't afraid of guns. In fact, they are quite expert with them, and can hit a running pig from a moving helicopter, and all the bullets they shoot hit within a few feet of the target. They kill pig after pig after pig..... They could tell you the best way to approach the problem, and it is probably a mix of techniques.

It is sad that you don't get that, but it is what it is.
